MONTHLY SCRUB AND CLEAN
Once a month throughout the house
Almost everything has to move,
Only the old piano, many would grouse
If that we moved, it stays in its groove.
The kitchen floor is all cleared off
And cleaned on hands and knees,
I dont care if the young folks scoff,
Then open all the windows to the breeze.
All the cupboards are cleaned right out
Everything put straight, lost things found.
For awhile they are without a doubt
Not booby-trapped at all , Ill be bound.
The couch is moved, theres that lost sock!
And the cats brush, and some change,
What one finds is never really a shock,
Except when you come to move the range.
Everything lying around is washed clean,
Its hard work, but it can be kind of fun,
The home, for a few days is fit to be seen,
The rest of the time only essentials are done.
When the children were growing up
This big job was done once a week
With many feet and cats and a pup
To keep you cleaning till you were weak.
Now the children have left this cozy nest,
They have homes of their own to clean,
And so our home says clean, thats best,
For now they go where I had once been.
