FAIRY RING
In the corner of the garden where
the hollyhocks grew tall,
Near the rose bush that seemed to
lean by the old wall
Was a small ring on the lawn that
was gently trodden down,
As if fairies danced there, dressed
in green and brown.
Not one neighbours garden had
a neat fairy ring,
Did that mean the fairy blessing to us
would want to bring?
Did we ever hear sweet melodic
voices gently blend?
Good crops to our little garden did their
nightly activities send?
I was told that if you make a wish in the
centre of a fairy ring
That wish will come true, and maybe
make some sad heart sing.
Every home Ive lived in since
those years so long ago,
I look over the lawn so green to
see if signs do show
Of a fairy ring where they all dance
in the pale moonlight
And once again our home is chosen
by the little folk so bright.
