CHESTER
Ancient, quaint, complete within a Roman wall,
Narrow streets with buildings that seem so tall,
Some cobbled roads remain in the thoroughfare,
You expect to see old fashioned people walking there.
The Roman walls impressive, surrounds the city of old,
I see Roman soldiers shivering in the English cold,
Standing along that wall they built so stout and strong,
As ghostly voices cry on the wind, as for home they long.
There are lots of old buildings, built in days of yore
With low ceilings and needing to stoop to enter the door.
All painted black and white, like a painting of long ago,
Its like wandering back a few hundred years or so,
The castle still stands, remaining as ever all cold and grim,
Beautiful to see, but think of the cruelty that went on within.
There, in this small city of antiquity and antique stores,
There is a sight that causes a smile and for good cause,
For near where the Roman wall steps come down to the street
A familiar sign your puzzled eyes will surprisingly meet,
The big golden arches and a large red clowns sign,
Macdonalds with its burgers and fries can be mine.
