BEWARE OF THE RAINBOWS END
When you see a rainbow arch the sky across the meadow green
You may hear enticing voices, and if your eyes are keen,
See the fairies dancing as they sing their pretty song
Its a tempting tale promising you of playing all day long,
Come little children, come, the rainbows end seek,
There, there is no work and no winter cold and bleak.
I listened longingly to the voices calling soft and low,
It sounded so inviting, that I just had to try and go
To follow the pretty rainbow and the end find,
I would only stay awhile, mother would not mind.
Come little children, come, the rainbows end seek,
There, there is no work and no winter cold and bleak.
Im coming little folk, I see a rainbow in the sky
Let me find the rainbows end before I am old and die.
I could hear the laughter like the wind on the sea
But the end never seemed to come any nearer to me.
If you cannot find us, a price youll have to pay
Cut off your golden hair, on the grass let it lay.
I loved my hair of rich gold curls, could I cut it off?
I could see the fairy faces at me they did scoff,
How badly did I want the end of the rainbow to see?
Was my golden hair to great a sacrifice from me?
We know you want to join us, play your life through,
Your golden hair is all we require from you.
At that moment I knew that this was the wrong thing to do
I ran across the meadow and all the forest through,
And as I ran I could hear voices singing sweet and high,
It was the sound of the breeze across the open sky.
Go child you have passed the test given you this day
Never listen to wrong voices as you travel on your way.
