LEAVE IT THERE
The young woman sat, head upon her drawn up knees
Her dark hair softly blowing in the warm evening breeze,
A far away look in her lovely bright eyes of deep blue,
An artists perfect picture, he watched, very quietly drew.
Her mind was in turmoil, not knowing where she should go,
She felt all alone, bitter scalding tears began freely to flow,
They rolled down her beautiful cheeks quite unchecked,
She felt that her whole life was now totally wrecked.
He said he loved her, but left her and went far away,
Heart broken, could she live on through another day?
She thought of their walks together, hand in hand
As they strolled slowly along the sun warmed sand.
The beach now empty and no footprints in the soft sand,
No friend left there beside her to hold her empty hand,
No sounds of their laughter ringing on the gentle breeze,
No one to sit with under the shade of the swaying trees.
She started to move, but a voice asked her to stay,
Please try and stay still, Ive almost finished anyway.
She stayed quite still wondering who it was who spoke,
Was it someone trying to play some silly little joke?
Ive finished, the voice called to her once again,
Come, see, have I captured all your hurt and pain?
She looked at that drawing and she had to agree,
The look on her pretty face was as sad as could be.
The old man smile and said now leave that pain in there,
Leave in this drawing all that sorrow, deep hurt and care,
Please go on living and loving all you long life through
And remember this drawing when life get tough for you.
She thanked him as he very slowly wandered on his way,
She, older now, has kept that drawing to this very day,
She always remembered the thought that helped her go on
Until all her battles of life are joyfully conquered and won.
