THINGS WE CANNOT CHANGE
How many of us become upset at things we cannot change?
We fret and fume, if we are not in control out of our range,
Yet to survive and live life to the full, know true happiness,
We must be at peace, and in some small way others bless.

We cannot change the actions of others around us each day,
If we are right, by example we can show them a better way.
We cannot alter the weather, when storms rage around,
Yet we can pray and hope survival for all is found.

We cannot stop the programs that reach us on radio and TV,
But we have a knob that we turn off as easily as can be.
We cannot change the hearts of men who wish to be at war,
If we fight the good fight and pray we’ll have blessing in store.

As we live the best we can, through our sojourn here on earth,
Realizing there are things we cannot change for our own worth,
It teaches us survival, tolerance and an understanding of God’s ways
As we stop and work out what we can change and what stays.
