EVENING SHADOWS
In Memory of those who died September 11
Evening shadows fall across a peaceful sky,
No clouds at all can be seen by the passers by,
The wind is cool, blowing gently from the lake,
Yet there are many sad hearts that do break.
Many still wondering where their loved ones are,
Faces filled with pain as they try and gaze afar,
But all they see is dust and rubble, brave souls who try
To find those special loved ones, many workers die.
Yet everyone rallies round there is much to be done,
Because of the togetherness the terrorists have not won,
Stranger helping strangers, weeping together in love,
A bond made strong by grief, they gain comfort from above.
All free folks feel the pain, feel helpless in every way,
Yet if we can do nothing to help at least we can pray,
All those who have a belief in a God of some kind
Pour out your hearts help them some comfort find.
No words can express the horror before our eyes,
And yet so much loving has come, really no surprise,
For mankind who have hearts that love will share
The grief in some small way, they will be there.
