THE START OF A NEW DAY
When you awake to a brand new day,
The sky is blue and the sun’s ray
Shines bright, the birds sing sweet
Songs of hope this new day to greet.

What thoughts pass through our mind?
Do we in nature, healing and beauty find?
Or are we unaware of the treasures
Each day can bring us in full measure?

Life is not mundane, but should be full
To the brim with excitement, never dull,
Put love into life and joy into living,
Stop taking and just do a little giving.

It matters not what a new days brings,
Maybe clouds are grey, birds don’t sing,
If sun shines within you, all is bright,
People won’t notice the sun is out of sight.

Be a ray of sunshine in the darkened world,
Meet with a smile the troubles that be hurled
At you, see how bright you can shine,
Know you are shining with God’s light divine.
