REAL JOY
What comes to mind when joy is talked about?
The world is full of joyous things without a doubt,
If we stop and think for even a moment or two
We’ll find they are things that last eternity through.

Not brash moments spent just having lots of fun,
But things that make you feel good when day is done,
It could be the birth of a baby, hearing that first cry,
Watching a small fledgling stretching it’s wing and fly.

Seeing a bright rainbow arch after a mighty storm,
Having loving arms around you, feeling safe and warm,
Feeling quite well after a long illness full of pain,
Knowing of God’s healing power, healed you again.

Listening to music that inspires you to want to do good,
Listening to all the birds sing in some shaded wood,
Walk by the sea as the high tide washes the shore,
Listen to the songs it sings, long to roam once more.

See the handiwork of God in the petals of a tiny flower,
Marvel at it’s beauty, feel the joy of a spring shower
After a long winter and green buds start to show,
Then day by joyous day, watch everything grow.

Joy of life, joy of love, joy does not cost anything,
Free for the taking, given to us, God’s blessing to bring
To us His children, as on this earth we try to improve,
Gathering joyous moments as toward heaven we move.
