THE TRIALS OF THE WINTER
We scrape car windows and shovel the snow,
Wrap up warm just about everywhere we go,
Sweat like crazy as we wander around the store,
Then feel the cold worse as we go out once more.
But other hazards lurk in the cold winter time,
With ice, slush and over mounds of snow we climb,
January the eighth was a very bad stormy day,
Unfortunately a friend of ours had to wend his way
To down town Toronto and their he fell with a thud,
Poor old Ed never ever thought that he would
Have to hobble around with a broken leg so sore,
And have to be helped, even have folks open a door.
Still hobbling around on some crutches, you see
Still smiling, in pain, but as cheerful as can be.
Cheer up Ed now that spring will soon be on it’s way,
Not much more snow to cause havoc I pray,
Lets hope we will all stay firm on two feet
And not land hard in the snow, a broken leg to greet.
For Ed Drebot in commiseration.
