A FULL LIFE
It is not wrong to look forward to some great event,
But if that is the only thing your waiting heart is bent
The wonderful things that happen every day are lost,
Marred by the longing for things to come at what cost.
Treasure each moment of each day, living it to the full,
See the sun sail across the sky, see the moon when full,
Dance in the long green grass on a warm summer day,
Lie on your back under the trees and watch them sway.
It is not the big things that makes life always worth living,
We need to catch the moment, they are there for the taking,
Watch a butterfly flutter from flower to flower in beauty,
Watch a colony of ants all working hard doing their duty.
Look for the lovely arched rainbow after a heavy storm,
Snuggle by the fire in the winter to keep nice and warm,
Feed the birds and try and count all the varieties that call,
Laugh as you see the squirrels play tag along the garden wall.
A full life is made up of thousands of precious little things,
Not the big events that just one important day brings,
Gather simple things into your life every day that you live,
Then friends, there are many treasures you will be able to give.
