More poems about Writing

SIGNAL GREEN I am prepared for a poem, but nothing is coming through,
A period of redundancy has come which is quite new,
Normally the sight of a note book or computer keys
Send my thoughts soaring, riding on a summer breeze.

But for the last two days no inspiration has come my way,
Nothing triggered my thoughts at least nothing to stay,
Just one idea about Christmas floated quickly by
And I grabbed onto it and wrote it with a large sigh.

All day I thought of poetry and what it means to me,
I read Noyes and Wordsworth, Keats and some Shelly,
To stir my imagination but still I struggled to think at all,
I prayed last night that from poetry writing I’d not fall.

I bought a new outfit to cheer me maybe light a flame,
But not for one moment did new ideas come to my brain,
This morning I have sat and forced the words to flow,
And maybe this effort might signal green and I will go.
