WINNING AN AWARD
Have you ever won an award, been one of the best
Or struggled hard for a long time to pass the test,
Made up your mind to do it however hard it became,
And carried on to win, not for the glory and gain
But just to say I did it tried and never once gave in,
And received the recognition that the task did win.
When young my mom used to say, Ann pray for aid,
Depend not on just you but Jesus and not be afraid,
For if it is good and wholesome Hell see you through
As long as you work hard and that depends on you,
I did as I was told not knowing really why at the time,
But as I grew wiser a sweet thought came quite sublime.
Give all you can and even more and Jesus will help each day,
Give you the strength to carry on when energy fades away,
Gives you to power to study when you think you cant go on,
And then comes the times when you think naught has been won,
But then later those strengths gained show their sweet face
And all things are enhanced by His amazing eternal grace.
Yes I have won awards and sometimes been one of the best
But I know I could not have done it alone passed each test,
My strength alone was not enough to pull my weak self through,
And I want to thank parents that explained this idea to you,
A word to a worried child who thought that she may often fall,
Came the help of the Master he held me every time I hit a wall.
