More poems about Birds.

        BLEST WITH LOONS
Nesting on the top lake some loons have come,
We see them most mornings when night is done,
Their comforting calls came through the night,
Now we see them swim in grace in the light.

Nesting in the rushes now starting to grow,
How many chicks in this family will show?
Two we hope is to replenish one to increase,
So the sight of this graceful bird will not cease.

You should see them dive then hold your breath
And you often wonder did they dive to their death,
Yet minuets later a quite a long distance away
They appear once more alive in the light of day.

How long before they bring their babies out
Riding on each parents back, then they shout
Their fierce screech warnings for all to take care,
For they carry a very precious cargo right there.

One by one the chicks jump bold off each back,
Look at that, of true bravery they do not lack,
Their tiny legs going so fast speed hard to count,
When they get tired out on parents back they mount.

Its like a real human happy family out for the day
Who teach their children how to work and play,
Come to the lake and watch them for a little while
And when they go south wish them well with a smile.
