THE CHILD JESUS
Mary must have been inspired as she taught Jesus at her knee,
She must have taught Him how to walk, named colours to see,
Helped teach Him how to read and write, learn the holy write
I know that the child Jesus would quite patiently would sit.

Joseph taught Him to have a trade, a carpenter of great worth,
We know that in His youth and early manhood on His earth
Would work, His healing hands would hold the wood with care
And I am sure that the table, stool or chair would be truly fair.

As a family I know they would pray, teach Him what to say,
Chubby child’s hands clasped, words tumbling as He did pray,
Praying over a meal together showing gratitude and love
To their Father in heaven as He sent bounties from above.

Playing with His friends laughing as they played each game,
Is that why he was not accepted when at His greatest fame?
Jesus needed to be taught but the truth He would always know
I know that love and gratitude to His parents he would ever show.

I would have loved to have listened to what Mary sweetly said,
When she taught, did she sing to Him as she tucked Him in bed ?
And to sit in their work shop as dear Joseph did His great part,
As we parent our children let us so with a loving and tender heart.
