More poems about Names for Ann.

NICKNAMES
I can remember some nicknames I had years ago
And how they came by me I really don’t know,
Some derived last name, which some I did resent,
And often a shiver of childish anger through me went.

Inky was ok but not really the name of Inky-Poo,
Sometimes Fuzz Bonce after a new shampoo
Was tried to calm my curly hair and it went array,
On those days I must admit I often used to cry.

Cruel names like Big-Boots and Silly and Clumsy
Used to hurt my tender heart, I felt the names cruelly,
My gran used to call me her Nan but not my name,
I liked Ann, other names were never really the same.

At work in the hospital Inky was the one to seem to stay,
But when not on duty Ann most times came my way,
Then I started dating the man of my sweetest dream,
And Sweetheart after many years is my favourite I deem.
