DAFFODILS
In our local store today, daffodils were on sale,
All lovely vivid yellow, none of them were pale,
On a cold windy day in March they seemed to smile
And bring the feeling of spring to us for a little while.

They now grace our diningroom table, are all aglow
Like a radiant beam of warmth dimming the cold snow,
They are like music to the heart a spring melody sweet,
In fact they are to those who look a very special treat.

I love the daffodil when growing in gardens and fields
And the promise of better weather that their sight yields,
I hope they last awhile these heralder’s of delightful spring,
For as I look at them my winter weary heart wants to sing.
