More poems about Spring.

SPRING ON THE WAY
It seems as though spring maybe on the way,
For it rained all night and most of the day,
The mounds of snow are vanishing before our eyes,
The wind though wet is not raw, pleasant surprise.

I saw some sparrows, red-pols, blackbirds as well,
Returning to the frigid north a good message to tell,
No robins yet, but then we can be almost sure
That gentle sweet spring is knocking at our door.

The lakes are still frozen, but fish huts are going,
Which is a sure sign that there is a fast thawing,
A trickle of water down the warming rocks and rills,
Almost hear the trees sigh with relief, free from icy chills.

Welcome, thrice welcome to all the signs of dear spring,
For over six months of snow can be a tiresome thing,
Yet I would not be surprised another winter fling to see
Before grass and fragrant flowers show their faces to me.
