WHEN I CLOSED MY EYES
I sat and closed my eyes and drifted off into a dream
And I wandered in a forest of beauty Id never seen,
Sweet flowers entwined my feet of grace so truly fair,
And the grandeur of the mighty trees beyond compare.
The air was pure and fragrant and birds sang in harmony
A tune of rapture that brought a calming gentle peace to me,
I have seen many places on this wonderful earth down here,
But nowhere had I seen a place so full of peaceful cheer.
Then I sw a figure and by a flowing river He just sat,
Patted His hand by His side so we could sit and chat,
Those eyes told me that He was my Master so dear
And He wanted poor me, to draw to Him, be so near.
I sat and felt His strength flow over me, felt His love divine,
Felt His arms around me and knew that I would be quite fine,
Awhile I rested and felt that glow of love beyond compare,
I knew that I wanted to return to that place His love to share.
