SUNNYSIDE OF SUMMER
Let us get gone to the Sunnyside of summer,
When pretty winter is in the deepest slumber,
Feel the rays of sun touch like a gentle kiss,
On a winter weary body, Oh what sweet bliss.
Although I love the winter with its pure white
And everywhere you turn is a spectacular sight.
And the northern lights dance in a cloudless sky,
I long to hear the returning birds sing as they fly.
I am not complaining of winter, we need the snow
To protect the land so that crops will soon grow,
But I fancy a taste of summer with her gentle breeze
And hear the whisper and the rustle of the trees.
I do not want to travel to where the sun is ever bright
So I will wait, like others, until spring comes in sight,
Then the Sunnyside of summer will be mine for awhile
And sitting on the patio and write while I sweetly smile.
