A WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT
When you live in northern climes this can happen to you,
But this one seems to be stretching as many areas come to view,
Up the 30 centimetres of snow is not too easily swept away,
I just wonder how long hanging around that it will stay.

I hope the power hangs in there to give us warmth and light,
And we can reach the stores, no one be in an awful plight,
The sky looks kind of whitish grey but still quite high,
I hope this horrid storm warning will quickly pass us by.

Food we have in plenty and I can make many a tasty meal,
Even if the powers goes we can manage quite well I feel,
But maybe they will be wrong and the snowfall be light,
But as I write the snow clouds quickly come into sight.

Flakes are already falling and the wind is blowing too,
Darkness is creeping in early with less and less view,
We’ll not see the moon and stars tonight of that I’m sure,
But I think we will stay inside, not venture through the door.
