THE MOON AT NIGHT
In the bitter, cold crisp air of a winter night
I watched the full moon take her graceful flight,
No clouds to buffet or stop her wonderful gleam,
The rays formed shadows and on the snow were seen.
The stars in their myriads danced and glittered with love,
Night in all her glory smiled down on us from above,
I stood by the door not really wanting to go to bed
As this wonderful scene filled both my heart and head.
Even coming in and through the windows I did gaze
And a prayer ascended to a loving God in sweet praise,
There was a symphony of dark velvet, silver and gold,
And I felt the need for this great beauty to be told.
Today only a few clouds race across the ice blue sky,
For this to me is a promise that Ill see the moon float by
On a cloudless ocean of a rich, deep blue velvet sky,
And see the stars sparkle and dance until morn draws nigh.
