WHEN I AWAKE
When I awake each morning whatever time of year
And see the beauty around and sweet sounds I hear,
A prayer of thanks arises to my kind Father up above
For all the gifts He gives me with His eternal love.
My gratitude floats with the clouds across the sky,
And on a clear day soars with the eagle way up high
For His bounteous goodness bestowed upon me,
As well as truth, light and wisdom to set me free.
When I awake each morning and life is still there
And all those I love are well it shows He does care,
Life and love surround me and joy is everywhere,
Of His great blessings I should always be aware.
Words are insufficient, my thoughts fall far short
Of the feelings in my heart for all the blessing brought
Into my realm of life, these gifts do I really deserve at all?
And the way He protects me from ill like a mighty shawl.
I will sings praises and write poems of love and delight,
Try to be good and kind, always try and win the good fight,
For He is there for me always and He never lets me down,
He is there to help me gain that bright heavenly throne.
