WINTER VISITORS
Friends have promised to visit us in spring
Or summer, which will be a very fine thing,
But not in the winter time in the snow and cold,
Yet the beauty all around is wonderful to behold.
Spring we yet do not know, but summer is sublime,
And the sights and sounds of fall are almost divine,
Yet winter brings her sights of beauty for us to see,
That are hard to fathom out in a great big busy city.
Snow stays clean and white, snowflakes dance around
While the sun shines and they fall gently on the ground,
Sparkling like jewels, many priceless gems are seen,
Even if it turns to a whiteout many memories we glean.
This year the winter has been very kind and quite mild,
Plenty of good snow to play upon for every age of a child,
Not enough to stop travel and needed shopping to complete,
Yet enough that the birds and animals need our seeds to eat.
Many a new day we will see snow just about everywhere,
And there will be a cold crisp bite on the breeze in the air,
Winter will be long and to see a dear loved one or two
Would help us endure the beauty of cols winter all through.
