DID I SING
I wonder, did I sing as an angel that precious night
When Jesus was born, the source of truth and light?
Did my voice blend with the hosts that did proclaim?
I hope that I was chosen to herald His great name.
Or was I in the choir in heaven making those rafters ring?
I am sure every voice some sweet song did gladly sing,
Did trumpets sound and the harps willingly declare
That the King of Kings was born on earth, down there?
Did the spirit children go with those who were already born?
Can you imagine the joy that came on that blessed morn,
Glory to God in the highest, peace, goodwill to all men,
The Saviour of mankind, a new star came into its ken.
Even if my voice did not rend the bright skies above,
I know that at least my heart would sing with love,
But deep down in my heart I feel that I did sing
Sweet praises on that night when in straw lay our King.
