NEW USE FOR A POETRY BOOK
We gave a friend a poetry book for Christmas
And her love and gratitude she did freely express,
We saw her the other day, a funny tale she did tell,
Another poem in my heart and mind came to dwell.
She told us with a smile her teddy bears loved to see
The poems, and liked to listen as alert as could be,
I can imagine those little critters holding a book,
Giving their owner a kind of loving special look.
We used to own a cat that would not let you read
Unless we read aloud so he could take good heed
Of what was between the pages of magazine or book,
And when we stopped reading we got a dirty look.
Now we feel that teddies are quite a different matter
Didnt realize they could read, understand our chatter,
So seeing our dear friend again just the other day
Brought knowledge and wisdom freely our way,
