CONSIDER THE GIFTS
When I consider the gifts that are mine so free,
My eyes, now dimming, but still great beauty see
The smile of a child, a rainbow in the cloudy sky,
The many different birds that go flying swiftly by,
The change of the seasons each with loveliness rare
And all the trees and flowers all so beautiful and fair.
My ears that enable to listen to all loved ones speak,
Hear sweet music that sends tears down my cheek,
The simple sounds of nature, the rustle of the trees,
The early morning chorus that floods a morning breeze,
Laughter of children at play, then listening as they pray.
Even the sound of a train passing close or far away.
There is touch and taste and able to smell a delicate flower
All the senses that enhance my life, hour by precious hour,
My gratitude is so insufficient for the great joy that I feel,
Even praying often, giving my thanks as I humbly kneel
Is not enough to praise Our great God and kind King
For all the blessings that life does always freely bring.
