More poems about Friends.

FOR PAT AND JOHN
We spoke to old friends yesterday on the telephone,
We haven’t seen them in years and thoughts did roam
To when all our children were small and played together,
And we seemed to be friends in all kinds of weather.

The voices seemed to bring memories of yesteryear
And the love that remained unspoken but still very dear,
Us girls shopping for Christmas gifts with the little we had
Knowing whatever we bought our children would be glad.

They shared the deep sorrow of a child that passed away,
We both well remember the bonding that came on that day,
The strength to carry on though the path was dark and drear,
We felt their prayers and gentle love come so very near.

We are so glad we called to see how you were, to say hello,
We long to see you both again, see each smiling face all aglow,
May the Lord continue to bless you, keep you in His loving care
And know that we remember you when we kneel to say a prayer.
