ICY SIDEWALKS
The roads and sidewalks were icy, hard to stand
And to the doctors office to walk I had planned,
I said a fervent prayer and took grandads cane
To save myself from any bad hurt or nasty pain.
The steep part was very icy but I managed well,
I knew the Lord was with me I could really tell,
Just by the surgery door I was all safe and sound
When I heard a soft kind of soft quiet thud sound.
I turned and a man had slipped, on the ice had fell,
Can I help you, rushing forward to him I did yell,
I dont need an old lady helping me, thanks, he said,
Im not old I said wanting to bonk him on the head.
We laughed as we went in together side by side,
I could see that the fellow had really hurt his pride,
Me not so young offering him a kindly, willing hand
When he on his backside on ice did awkwardly land.
