WAITING FOR CHRISTMAS
I am looking forward to Christmas in fact its hard to wait,
Im worse than any little child, looking for that special date,
Getting too early poeple say but it helps the day to come,
And making and freezing Christmas cookies its that dumb.
I am waiting for the music to start on the radio,
And hear the sound of the carols everywhere I have to go,
Music in the stores that fills my heart with Christmas glee,
Come on, hurry up Christmas and become a big part of me.
I already have the music ready to play my favourite songs,
And the festive CDs are near the top of our great throng
Of good music, but I just cannot start to play them just yet,
Or the family may begin to complain and all start to fret.
Im looking forward to Christmas, joy already fills my heart,
Its no use making mince pies they will all promptly depart
Before they cool off for freezing, but I dont really mind,
The smell while baking helps me the Christmas spirit find.
When at last joyous Christmas does eventually come our way,
I hope I am prepared for the grand and splendid, great day,
Just a little something baked or made and hidden somewhere
Helps me be ready with the sweet love floating in the cold air.
Now Im getting older I hope I remember where gifts are hidden,
Remember who I bought them for, for help will be forbidden
In case the surprise is lost as their own gifts the person may find,
But that would be better than no gifts found from us, what a bind.
