A PAIR OF BRIGHT CARDINALS
I saw a pair of bright cardinals by the
feeder today,
For some reason it reminded of Christmas
coming our way,
It had been trying to rain and all around
was quite dull,
And in the threatening rain there was quite
a long lull,
They looked so pretty feeding there
side by side,
It brightened up the greyness and my joy
I couldn’t hide,.
But when the snow is on the ground,
everywhere pure white
They always seem a part of Christmas, at
least in my sight.
The red against the pure white snow
sparkling in the sun,
Especially when the winter day has
just begun.
I hope they come all year, there will be seed in
plenty and to spare
A part of Christmas to watch them eat then fly
together in the cold air.
Many things spell Christmas but lovely cardinals
on the white snow
Seems near the list of Christmas things that nature
wants t o show.
