SADNESS TO JOY
The fire bell clanged and each man looked sad,
Only the second Christmas eve fire they ever had,
It was an area they did not know at all that well
How long to put the fire out they could not tell,
It was a back ally but the blaze was sky high,
Clouds of black smoke made them all give a sigh,
A man holding a cat with a dog right by his side,
It was not much but all I owned was all inside.
The old chipboard burned much too fast to save,
At least the three occupants were not going to die,
Although home was just a shack it was safe in there,
Until some thoughtless kids threw a lighted flair.
By lunch on Christmas eve nothing was left of the home,
So through the snow covered cold streets they did roam,
But then a Christmas miracle happen right out of the blue,
BOB! Said a voice, I have been looking all over for you
I had a feeling you needed me when I awoke today,
But your home was burnt down so I started to pray,
And here you all are in need of shelter, food and rest.
What better time to tell you of news the very best.
When uncle Bob died he split the money three ways,
His three nephews got his money, thats what the will says,
So come home and have Christmas with our big family,
Celebrate the fortune and from worry be quite free.
They all climbed into a big red pick up truck, oh so warm,
The big dog there to the other two animals was sweetly drawn,
Wagging tails and loud vibrating purrs said that all was well
And you should have heard the tales the men did each other tell.
Sweet joy from sorrow, rejoicing from heartache and pain,
He had found a cousin and they would be together once again,
When ones heart is breaking and rich blessings come your way
There really is only Have a blessed Christmas, for us all to say.
