LISTENING TO THE MESSAGE
We have just had a meeting for visiting teachers. I said
hello to those I knew,
Then stood there and smiled hoping someone some
time would come through,
One sister kindly said, ‘I need to sit there to feed
my needy friend,’
So I moved to the wall, smiled at folks and waited until I
had to move in the end.
No introductory hand, people busy chatting standing or
sitting there,
It has been such a wonderful message but I felt all it
seemed unfair,
So I sat and thought another poem might come to
my heart and mind,
For not one loving sister come close to me to be friendly
or a little kind.
Then I stopped to think a moment, it was I that was really
who was to blame,
I should have stretched out my hand in friendship
it was I in shame,
For I missed out in making friends and meeting new
people that day,
I really should not have moaned at the others
in that way.
