COOLER MORNINGS
The mornings are much cooler now September is here,
The next thing will be a frost, not a good sign for I fear
That snow will follow frost instead of sweet gentle rain,
And then winter will come in beauty, too soon to reign.
The birds still hungrily feed and still fly all around,
The call of the loon is still heard, a really glad sound,
For they seem to know when to leave early south to go,
So when they do not wake you, you know that fall is through.
A frost does turn the leaves to many different shades
And are worth seeing in the forests and sweet glades,
But I can wait a week or two this lovely sight to see,
For I must admit of early morning frost I want to be free.
The cooler air blows from the east with quite a cold bite,
Short shorts and light tee shirts have gone from our sight,
Its track pants and sweaters that are worn to keep wind away,
But tomorrow we are told will be quite a hot and pleasant day.
But soon cold mornings will be coming along with the frost,
So let us enjoy each good day before winter does come to accost
Us with her icy hands and cruel winds that will ever rip and tear,
But the beauty of her pure whiteness we can all lovingly share.
