A GOOD HARVEST
There maybe three hay harvests this year,
The winter wheat gathering is very near,
Summer wheat harvest will come our way,
Many other crops grow faster day by day.
Rich soil, warm sun and occasional rain
Is perfect for growing without much pain,
Or worry about it being brought safely home,
Anywhere across this country we may roam.
Sun ripened fruit, and grains of every kind,
Vegetables and herbs you are able to find,
No one need go hungry or feel any despair,
Nearly all we need is found in our country fair,
Citrus fruits, bananas, pineapple and white rice
Is all we need to buy, not a lot of goods at any price,
We are almost self-sufficient yet we import galore
And often ignore the farmers at our own front door.
