FOOT LOOSE AND FANCY FREE
There used to be a saying Foot loose and fancy free,
At this moment I ask myself what the meaning must be,
If I take this attitude upon me on this lovely spring day,
What sort of activities would eventually come my way?
Do what I like, go where I want with a not care attitude,
I could be really kind and nice or on the other hand be rude,
I could break the rules I know are right be a very bad girl,
Just whiz around like crazy setting myself in a whirl.
Foot loose and fancy free, some days I feel I want to be,
But not to be bad just be my true self hidden inside of me,
Not to be all sedate and old fashioned prim and proper,
But run barefoot in the sand and suck on a gob-stopper.
Run through each sprinkler, sit in the warm pouring rain,
Climb up an old twisted tree and read a child book again,
Walk around and eat ice cream, not caring if I make a mess,
This to me is footloose and fancy free I really must confess.
Someone born more than seventy years ago who has a childs heart,
A grandma who wants a bucket and spade in the sand, doing her part
To fight the waves of the sea and hope once to win before she dies,
Its me dear friends, I dont know whether this will give you a surprise.
