BE KIND TODAY
Stretch out a hand in friendship today, be kind,
Some small act to do should not be hard to find,
Today in the store a lady left her purse all alone
On her cart, we hovered close in case a thief did hone
In and feel like stealing it, we chatted when she did return,
And a kind smile and thank you we did quietly earn.
Wave to a stranger who is looking rather sad or down,
The smile and call hello and see that weary frown
Fly away and a grin come to that once worried face,
Even if they think you crazy they walk at a quicker pace,
And you may have cheered them, they go on their way
Feeling better than they did at the start of the day.
Run after a flyway bag when the wind blows strong
Even if it contains a card and undies just like a thong,
She may blush but be glad the purchases did not go away,
And it was quite funny as the wind a game seemed to play,
A rescued bag and a lady now no longer in distress you see
We had rescued a thank-you card and some small undies.
Take the time to stop and say a short phrase or two on your way,
You may regret that you were in a big hurry on a sunny day,
Wait a moment so a heavy store door shut when someone gets there
It only takes a second and if longer why should we really care
If we have stopped to give a smile and a quickly spoken, HI,
It is much better than a closed door as they walk leaden by.
