More poems about Gratitude

ONE MORE TIME
Just one more time I would really like to quietly lie
Under a canopy of an infinity of stars in a sable sky,
My mind drifting whilst trying to count them all
And in sweet gratitude to God as into deep sleep fall.

Listen to the distant sea pounding a soothing tune,
As you rest in the arms of some warm sand dune,
The sparse grass joining in with it’s own melody,
At that moment there is nowhere else I’d like to be.

Just one more time a still lake I’d like to find,
See nature at it’s best before the sun declined
In magnificent beauty in a sunset quite indelible
Giving to me a great gift truly incredible.

Just one more time fight the sea with bucket and spade,
Build sand dykes and castles then wait for the sea to invade,
Just one time build it strong enough so that I could win,
And feel the joy of the impossible deep within.

I may not have a chance to do these things again
Save maybe find a lake and sweet peace gain,
But I have lived and loved and been loved well,
Gratitude I’ll will show as long as on earth I dwell.
