DO ALL BIRDS
Do all birds understand the call of the loon,
Or the turtle dove who is trying to croon,
Is the cheep of a sparrow understood by a crow,
Can they, if lost, tell each other where to go?
Do the hawk and great eagle chat as they fly,
As they glide and circle so high up in the sky,
Does the ravens deep squark sound rather queer
To the singing robin with a rather sensitive ear?
I think there is some understanding of bird sound
For when in the back yard I throw food around,
One little finch seems to let all the birds know,
For soon there is of birds a long constant flow.
How do birds think, what is in each bird mind?
As it calls in its own voice, does it then find
Communication, or did at the tower of Babel
To understand other species became quite unable.
Now another thought has just struck my mind,
Do deer and elk understand the delicate hind.
Do cats and dogs communicate in the home,
And with their wild relatives that are free to roam.
I really do not know and surely that I cannot tell
If creatures think in people who rule and dwell,
I know pets understand what often is being said,
Except maybe, Spot, please get off the bed.
This poem could go on and on adinfornitum ,
Speculate on these things till kingdom come,
So use your own imagination and have a ball,
Listen to what all the creatures say when they call.
