TRAVELLED NORTH
We travelled north for a few days although it was cool for May,
It is worth the long drive along busy roads to then get away
To the places where wild creatures and birds are so very near,
Otters playing in the stream, beavers working without any fear.
The loons are now returning from the south and want to say
“I’m back” with the call that forever in your heart does stay.
That loon call speaks of peace and calming sweet solitude,
Gives a feeling of contentment a slower pace to be pursued.
The north calls like the sirens from the storm tossed sea,
For in the north there is a feeling of being set quite free
From the worries of city life and walk a slower pace,
And trying to keep up with the fast running rate race.
Near a quiet lake or river with stately trees all around,
Where the joy of rugged nature can be readily found.
