        FOUND THEM SLEEPING
Jesus went into Gethsemane to perform His Father’s will,
His friends were with Him as He suffered, all was very still
And sleep crept over the watchers, so Jesus was there alone,
We cannot imagine the pain that seeped into every bone.

He went to see His friends, and another deep pain He felt,
“Could ye not watch with me one brief hour,” then he knelt
Again, knowing he was truly alone to atone for every sin,
For every hurt, pain and sorrow, salvation for us all to win.

They awoke when the soldiers came to take Him away,
Then Judas, a dear disciple friend, with a kiss did betray,
More anguish to His suffering, another cruel, brutal blow
Then strong, brave Peter denied Him and anger did show.

Not only scourging, mocking, and many other cruel things,
But friends forsook Him, think of the pain that brings.
As we take upon us His sacred name and our cross bear,
May we stay true and be with Him in heaven there.

All sins were forgiven, for those who repent can still live,
Know that Jesus all men does sweetly and willingly forgive,
Think of the agony before the cross, and then relived again
As he suffered an ignoble death through all that bitter pain.

Smile and let your light shine like the day he rose from the dead,
Life battles are worthwhile, for Jesus’ precious blood was shed
So He could overcome all things and arise in love to ever reign
In His glorious courts above and be with Him and Father again.
