WHERE IS SPRING
Why does spring stay away when shes welcomed by all,
Most of us have longed for her since winters cold call.
A few signs are now showing that she is at last on her way,
We actually had warmer winds blow over early today.
The rain came down gently and washed away the grime,
The street are almost free from snow, the birds do dine
On the greening grass and the awakening little bugs,
I saw the redwing blackbirds pulling up some grubs.
I just wish she would come quicker to send cold away,
Awake to the flowers blooming and leaves to sway
Instead of the bare branches still unclothed in the breeze
Although buds are showing a frost could still come to freeze.
Come on spring, send the winter far away and to us show
All the lovely blossoms and flowers that I want to see grow,
Trees arrayed in fruit blossoms with sweet fragrance in the air,
When this happens we can say that she has come to everywhere.
The sticky buds on the chestnut trees are ready to just burst,
The soil is refreshed by melted snow, no longer does it thirst,
So the sleeping flowers can show each welcome, pretty face
And so fill all around with springs returning sweet grace.
One morning when hope begins to fade of spring being there,
You awake and there is magical music and scent in the air.
She has come in all her glory our dear friend, renewed spring
And oh, the laughter and rejoicing that great day does bring.
