MORE LIKE THE MASTER
How can I be more like the Master day by day
What qualities develop, what words do I say,
Will I have strength to always do the right thing,
So strive for perfection and eternal life to me bring?
If my faith is strong enough to battle the ills of life,
My hope bright enough to overcome evil and strife
To face each in a cheerful, meaningful kind of way,
With a prayer in my heart to guide me all the day.
If my charity is far reaching and I love unconditionally,
Of all ill feeling toward mankind my heart be free,
My action be virtuous and pure righteousness flow,
So unspotted one day before my Master I may go.
If I gain knowledge of things good, pure and true
Be diligent and hard working in all that I do,
Use my talents wisely and patience by my guide,
Do Father’s will and my own selfishness hide.
If I gain true humility, be strong enough to grow
More like the Saviour and through obedience show
There is a path to glory although hard and rugged the way,
Please Lord help me follow Thee until my dying day.
