A MOTHERS SMILE
Sometimes you need to see a mothers smile
That encourages you to go that long extra mile,
No words need be spoken, nothing really said
Just that smile and a minuscule nod of the head.
Sometimes you need a touch of her hand on a bad day,
The look in her eyes that says you are doing okay,
A hand that heals when your heart is going to break,
You know all is well if her hand you can just take.
But when your sweet mother has gone to heaven above,
Shes no longer there with that sweet special kind of love,
No earthly hand to hold or smile to help you heal,
How far away and empty does that love really feel.
Yet if I close my eyes tight when things go all wrong,
I can hear that first lullaby she always sweetly sung,
See her blue eyes sparkle through her brimming tears,
I know she is close by me and takes away my fears.
She used to sing of the sheep who had gone astray,
Told me I was never alone for Jesus led the way
To heaven above where all good people go to rest,
And wed meet again if we both did our very best.
