        THE POURING RAIN
The festive lights reflect in the pouring rain
Not on sparkling snow double beauty to gain,
But in puddles, running gutters and wet streets,
Snow only left in hiding places as it sadly peeks.

New year has come in with wet rain and cold damp,
I feel sorry for those who are at snowy winter camp,
But our fire sends out a bright cheery, happy blaze,
Depleting within in each heart the wet winter haze

Each flame licks round the logs all cosy and warm,
All are welcome in from the rain all damp and forlorn,
Come join us by the fire and feel sweet love grow,
For it’s what’s in the home that matters you know.
