THE NEW YEAR
The embers of the old year lay dying in the hearth of life,
Taking with its fleeting glimpse of trouble and strife,
Its the joyous moments that glow bright as it fades away,
The years pain and heartache will no longer want to stay.
The new year brings with it a flame of hope so very bright,
Rekindled comes the warmth with the new years clear light,
Gone is the past and from it we should ever want to learn,
But not look back and to relive that time again to yearn.
But with strength and hope and truth step bravely on,
For we have many a great personal battle to be ever won,
Smile at misfortune, praise God for pain and cruel strife,
For then we will grow better people through our short life.
May the new year shine warm and bright and bring us joy,
May we have the energy and good honest service always employ,
As we step forward on the unknown paths that lies to all ahead
Let us remember that we need to be constantly spiritually fed.
Hand in hand with the Master let us face this brand new year,
Walk close to Him every day and the sweet prompting hear,
No matter what comes along may loves fire burn ever bright,
And people for miles around can to led by Gods pure light.
