THE TEMPLE IN THE DISTANCE
When you leave the busy highway and drive along the street
The lofty spire and gold Moroni you cannot help but greet,
In the vivid blue sunshine it makes your heart fill with love,
Even better in the floodlights, sending rays to heaven above.
But on grey and misty days or when rain is pouring down,
Turning off the busy highway, you want to give a frown,
No welcome spire and Moroni glittering in the sunlight,
Just a dullness, maybe a glimmer of the temple in sight.
Then one day when thick snow clouds hide the lovely view
With almost a white out, danger was nearly over, faith anew
Filled my heart with joy knowing if no light is there too see,
That the temple stands in all its grace and its celestial beauty.
Although I love to see the glowing temple at the corner as I turn,
There is more longing if mists hides its view, I earnestly yearn,
To reach the safety and the peace, mists disappear as I enter in,
And I think that on days like that the veil seems extra very thin.
