A MOVING COLOURFUL QUILT
In the mall near where we live is a
very large fish display,
A big tank full of colour and the fish dance
and swim and sway,
Making pretty patterns as if they want
all to know
How lovely they are and how all the different
colours glow,
But a few weeks ago the fish they did
all change,
And we saw fish a sight that was far
beyond my range
Of understanding of the many fishes
of the deep sea,
For the new colours were amazing so
vivid to see.
Bright yellow, orange, red, green, mauve,
purple and pink,
Like a moving colourful quilt swimming
in perfect synch,
They could weave a spell of colour across
the minds eye,
As if under that moving quilt you want
to just lie.
Now they have gone but their weaving
filled my mind,
Left within the recesses of my heart a joy
often to find.
