ANOTHER MIGRAINE
The flashing lights, steel bands, stabbing pain,
Feeling sick, rooms too bright, another migraine,
The loud beating of the heart in pain intensified,
Nothing can be done maybe later they can be tried.
Eating is needed but the thought makes you heave,
In darkness at this time you just want to believe,
For light is cruel and searing causing deep agony,
How many others are suffering today like me.
Any noise however quiet is like a falling bomb,
When you get a migraine you think why did it come?
Hope the hurt goes away and life you may regain,
For there is no joy or hope when in this kind of pain.
It may not last long this aggravator of human kind,
This destroyer of usefulness and of the thinking mind,
Then coming with a heavy, heady cold things seem worse,
As though Id been given for being bad a very nasty curse.
I will overcome this affliction that today came my way
With an effort get up and with the grandchildren play,
Get the ironing done and even go out in the bright sun
But just for awhile be quiet until my courage does come.
