LAUGHTER FROM ABOVE
I heard the sound of happy laughter on the evening breeze,
It came from much higher than the swaying lofty trees,
It filled my heart with joy as I heard that sweet sound,
The air was alive with music as if in heaven it was found.
We were wandering through the temple garden so very fair
And it seemed as if the hosts of heaven were also there.
The full moon showed her face to add a radiance around,
As if this eve of glory wanted in beauty to be crowned.
Then some youth came out of the baptistry faces all aglow
I wonder if it was freed spirits gratitude waned to show.
I do not know if others heard the laughter that special night
How many felt that sweet spirit of joy and pure delight,
How many of those se long departed did sweetly rejoice,
Celebrating freedom and so rending each sweet voice
To us, but I felt and heard it on the gentle evening breeze
As they sang with laughter far above the swaying lofty trees.
